Around the World In 180 Days: Mexico

I am Luke Zayas. I am a humanitarian worker, and I want to inspire people to help others on this journey and to improve children’s health in less fortunate parts of the world like third world countries with starving people. My mission is to feed people and it is important to me that we teach these people how to improve their lives by giving them supplies and resources for them to have healthy lives and to take care of their families.

Fundraising and Packing Plan

When I was a child I did not have all the luxuries of having easy access to water and food like I do now. Ever since I immigrated to the United States, I’ve wanted to help children that were in the same situation as I was years ago. I know that if I was still a child and still in that situation, it would mean the world to me if someone reached out to me so they could help me. As a humanitarian worker, I will need a team of people willing to help people in need. I will need to invest in food and water, and many others supplies like medicine, containers for water, filters, clothes, and books to educate people. In order to pay for this, I will start a fundraiser selling bracelets and necklaces with inspirational quotes on them. Each and every of these purchases will fund our movement and go to struggling families around the world. 15% of the money from purchases will go to buying supplies and funds.

If I had been in Ancient Greece as a humanitarian worker, I probably would have seen:

  • Beggars and disabled homeless people- there isn’t much one can do aid a homeless person right off the street because if you hand them cash they could just spend it irresponsibly. Food and water are better because those are more necessary in a way.
  • dilapidated buildings and broken homes. I would help supply and rebuild.
  • Drought and water shortages-help supply water to people from neighboring countries.
  • Showing farmers how to become more efficient when growing crops before famine or drought.
  • Injured soldiers coming back from war, supply them with food and water and medical ointments.
